The E1 is the drive platform behind HIWIN mechanics: one amplifier family for EM1 AC servo motors, linear motors, torque motors and direct drive motors, in standard (pulse and voltage command) or fieldbus executions with EtherCAT, MECHATROLINK-III, PROFINET and mega-ulink for HIMC controllers. A 3.2 kHz speed response, tuneless and advanced auto tuning, ripple compensation and built-in STO come standard; the ESC encoder translator brings EnDat and BiSS-C feedback and dual-loop control to the same drive.

Pair it with EM1 AC servo motors (50 W to 2 kW, 17/23-bit encoders), or run linear, torque and direct drive motors from the same platform. View EM1 Motors →

Power ratings

Ratings 400 W to 4 kW run on the 110/220 V class; 5 and 7.5 kW run on 400 V three-phase. Peak current runs about 2.6 to 4.2 times rated current. On a single-phase 200-240 V supply, the 2 kW drive runs at 75% effective load ratio or less (9 Arms of 12 Arms rated). Model numbers encode the rating: ED1S-VG-0422 is a 400 W, 220 V standard gantry drive.

Control interfaces

Standard drives take pulse and voltage commands; fieldbus drives speak the plant network.

  • V Voltage command + pulse — The standard-type interface
  • E EtherCAT (CoE) — Including HIWIN EtherCAT controllers
  • L MECHATROLINK-III — Fieldbus
  • P PROFINET — Fieldbus
  • H mega-ulink (MoE) — For HIMC motion controllers

Motor type codes

  • A AC servo motor — EM1 family
  • 0 General — AC, linear, direct drive and torque motors
  • T GT nano-precision — Nano-positioning, 2D error map, DC 48-120 V

Special functions

  • G Gantry control — Two drives close one wide-span axis
  • N None — Standard single-axis

ESC encoder translator

The Excellent Smart Cube adds third-party feedback to any E1. It orders as ESC-SS-S01: the type code below, then the function code (S01 full function · S02 general).

  • AN Analog encoder — Sin/cos with Hall and thermal-sensor support
  • SS Dual serial encoders — EnDat 2.1/2.2 or BiSS-C, dual-loop capable

How buying works

Spec it in the configurator: drawings, 3D CAD, and a quote to follow.

HIWIN series are configured to your application, not bought off the shelf. Start from your loads and speeds if you are still choosing a size.
