The LMSA is HIWIN MIKROSYSTEM's best-selling linear drive: an iron-core forcer over a permanent-magnet stator, tuned for the smallest volume at the largest force output. Fifteen models span 52 to 1,579 N continuous and 112 to 4,458 N peak in installation heights of 34 to 36 mm, with UL and CE certification. The LMSA-Z execution swaps the cable exit for quick-install anti-vibration connectors that simplify wiring construction and maintenance. Stators chain in modular segments to build any stroke.

Need perfectly smooth scanning instead of maximum force density? The coreless LMC series gives up the iron core for zero cogging and low moving mass. View LMC Series →

  • 4,458 N

Peak force from the largest model (LMSAC5)

  • 34-36 mm

    Total installation height

  • 120 °C

Max winding temperature, triple PTC protected

Applications

  • PCB, FPC and FPD equipment
  • Laser direct imaging (LDI)
  • Solar energy equipment
  • Digital printing
  • General automation

Models

Model digits encode forcer width (0 through C) and length (1 through 5): an LMSA23 is an 86 mm wide, 328 mm long forcer. L windings, available from LMSA11 up, trade force constant for speed at the same bus voltage. LMSA01 to LMSA34 also ship as -Z with quick-install connectors; LMSAC3 and LMSAC5 do not.

Windings

Same forcer, two winding tunes from LMSA11 up; LMSA01 and LMSA02 have standard winding only.

  • — Standard — Force-constant optimized
  • L Low back-EMF — Higher speed at the same bus voltage

Execution

  • — Standard forcer — Fixed motor cable (LAPP 4G1.5)
  • Z Quick-install — Anti-vibration connectors for fast wiring

Stator segments

Stators chain end to end to build the stroke. Order code: width, model, length, magnet package (e.g. LM SA 1 S 1 EA).

  • S / C Standard or customized — Widths 0-3 and C (35.6-126 mm) matched to the forcer
  • 1-3 Segment lengths — 120 / 180 / 300 mm
  • EA Magnet package — EA epoxy, or blank for cover plate

Protection

  • PTC 3× SNM120 thermal switches — In-winding over-temperature protection to 120 °C
