LMFA Series Water-Cooled Iron-Core Linear Motor
HIWIN synchronous linear motors LMFA are coiled stack of sheets with water-cooling loop. They are especially distinguished by very high power density and minimum cogging force. This three-phase motor is composed of a primary part (forcer) with iron core and secondary part (stator) with permanent magnets. With the combination of several stators, many stroke combinations are possible.
Without the water-cooling loop, the LMSA series covers the same iron-core construction for standard duty cycles. View LMSA Series →

Model digits encode forcer width (0-6) and length (1-4): an LMFA31 is a 141 mm wide, 214 mm long forcer. Continuous force figures are the water-cooled (WC) rating at the catalog's minimum flow rate; without cooling water the catalog's Fc column is about half. Every model also ships as an L low back-EMF winding with the same force ratings at higher speed.

How a part number reads
LM FA 3 1 L B (forcer order code; matching magnet tracks order as LMF stators)
The configurator assembles this number for you, with drawings and 3D CAD. Configure ↗
Same forcer, two winding tunes; force ratings are identical.
Water cooling is built in; a bolt-on precision stage is optional.
Magnet tracks chain end to end to build the stroke.

How buying works
HIWIN series are configured to your application, not bought off the shelf. Start from your loads and speeds if you are still choosing a size.
