The FBR Series Ball Splines integrate ballscrews and ball splines, designed to support helical, linear, and rotary motion. They feature a flanged ball nut for easy housing installation, efficient torque transmission, and an optimized lubricating channel and retainer design.

Need linear motion and torque without the screw? The FS flanged spline nut is the plain linear member of the family. View FS Type →

  • 3

Motion modes on one shaft: linear, rotary, spiral

  • C4

    Ball screw lead accuracy, factory-fixed

  • 70°

Applications

  • Industrial robots
  • Medical equipment
  • Automation equipment
  • Industrial machines
  • Machine tools
  • Semiconductor equipment

Sizes

Ratings shown are the ball spline nut's; the ball screw nut on the same shaft carries its own dynamic load rating of 5.88 to 16.2 kN, with the screw lead equal to the shaft diameter (16, 20, 25 and 32 mm). FBR is the right-rotation build; FBL is the left-rotation mirror on identical tables.

Part numbers & options

How a part number reads

SP - 20 - FBR - 400 - 500 - S

SP
Ball spline product family
20
Spline shaft outer diameter (mm) — 16, 20, 25, 32
FBR
Nut type — FBR right rotation · FBL left rotation
400
Length of straight groove (mm)
500
Total shaft length (mm)
S

Accuracy specification

Compound splines are built to one fixed specification, then inspected for flange verticality and runout per size (16–24 µm).

  • C4 Ball screw lead accuracy — With zero axial clearance, factory-set
  • H Spline precision grade — With zero rotational clearance (light preload)

Nut rotation

The screw thread hand sets the rotation direction; both builds share the same load tables.

  • FBR Right rotation — Standard build
  • FBL Left rotation — Mirror build for opposed or paired axes

Shaft execution

  • S Solid shaft — Standard
  • — Hollow shaft — Weight reduction, air or cable pass-through

Material & surface treatment

  • — Rust prevention or alternative material — Available on request, contact HIWIN

How buying works

Spec it in the configurator: drawings, 3D CAD, and a quote to follow.

HIWIN series are configured to your application, not bought off the shelf. Start from your loads and speeds if you are still choosing a size.
