The DMN is an inner-rotating direct drive in a low-profile package that installs easily, suited to high resolution, low torque applications. High positioning accuracy and high repeatability are achieved through its high-precision encoder, with a choice of incremental or absolute feedback system.

When the axis needs more torque than a low-profile DMN carries, the inner-rotating DMS runs to 150 N·m with the same feedback options. View DMS Series →

  • 3C electronics and curved-surface inspection
  • Screen printing
  • Semiconductor transport
  • Display panel
  • Medical and inspection equipment

Models

Model digits encode frame and torque size: DMN44 is a 118 mm frame at 2.8 N·m continuous. Every catalog model orders with an incremental or absolute encoder; DMN71 runs to 600 rpm with the incremental scale but 400 rpm with the absolute. DMN95 and DMN9A come from the newer brochure, ship with the 3600-line incremental encoder and take a 600 VDC nominal input.

Feedback

Each model ships with an optical incremental scale or an absolute encoder; the absolute versions work with the E1 drive only.

  • 2 1500-line incremental — DMN21 through DMN44; the sin/cos 1 Vpp scale resolves 4,320,000 counts per revolution
  • 4 2500-line incremental — DMN71
  • 5 3600-line incremental — DMN93, plus the brochure models DMN95 and DMN9A
  • A 19-bit absolute — DMN21 through DMN44; no homing move on power-up
  • B 20-bit absolute — DMN71 and DMN93; repeatability ±5 arc-sec on these frames

Windings

  • S Standard — The only winding printed for the DMN; no high-speed L option

Accuracy compensation

Factory error mapping tightens angular accuracy.

  • 0 Without compensation — Uncompensated accuracy runs ±15 to ±45 arc-sec depending on model and encoder
  • 1 ±10 arc-sec — After factory error mapping
  • 2 ±5 arc-sec — The tightest mapped grade

Runout & sensors

  • P/A Precision runout — 5/30 µm or 5/15 µm axial/radial against the standard 30/30 µm; spec-table optional grades reach 5 µm axial, 15 µm radial
  • 1 Digital Hall sensor — Commutation without a homing move
  • P PTC sensor — SNM100 in-winding over-temperature sensor, standard on incremental models; absolute models rely on the E1 drive's overload detection instead
